Why Can't I Delete a Shift?

This article explains the circumstances under which a shift can be removed.

It is recommended to avoid deleting shifts as a best practice. If a shift was entered in error, you can delete shifts that have been canceled. This functionality ensures that shifts, which must remain on the schedule, are not mistakenly deleted. A deleted shift cannot be monitored or tracked.

Advice on Deleting vs. Canceling Visits

Cancellation: When the visit is called off by the client, staff, or office.

Modify Shift or Recurrence:  adjust the schedule or terminate the current  recurrence to create a new one if the service type changes.

In case a visit was entered by mistake:

Step 1: Ensure the visit has no ongoing activity.

Step 2: Hoiover over the shift to view the Quick Action feature,  select edit to update the recurrence end date.  This will remove all but one shift.

Step 3: On the remaining shift, use the Quick Action feature to cancel the visit and choose "Other" as the reason to prevent it from generating a billable or payable occurrence.

Step 4: Choose on Grid on the client schedule

Note:  you may only delete canceled visits to ensure completed visits are not removed.

If you attempt to delete a visit that is not marked as canceled,  you will receive an error message.
